Meh, the drafts are piling up and I keep missing posts. Life is busy, I guess. But on a brighter note, a while back I decided it’s time I got back to a niche of the hobby I dropped out of when the only other player in the city left the country – Flames of War. It’s a another game with miniatures like Warhammer 40k, but this one’s World War II themed (thus, awesome).
With that in mind, while saving up cash and looking for the cheapest way to get a big pile of plastic soldiers and tanks, I’ve stumbled on a few bargains. One would be a lovely recovery halftrack someone was looking to get rid of. I snapped it up, eagerly waited or it to arrive and then quickly built it:
Sd kfz 9 recovery halftrack
The barrels were supposed to be loaded in the back as alternative to the canvas cover, but I decided it looks better with the cover on, and the barrels will be kept for a nice fuel/ammo dump objective marker later on.
So I finally got around to building the Seeker Chariot I got some weeks back (something I had been wanting to do since it got released in August). I naturally couldn’t help myself and swapped some parts from the stock model with basic daemonette or seeker parts. The end result looks thusly: Continue reading →
Converting combi-plasmas for terminators is a bitch. So in between slicing weapons into teeny-tiny pieces and realigning them, I’ve been working on the new raptors. In game they will be armed with meltaguns, but I eventually decided to give them a couple of melta-pistols I have from a friend that were destined to become combi-meltas for some of my Iron Warriors infantry. I also couldn’t resist and armed the champion with a pair of claws. Maybe in some games I’ll actually give him the equipment in the roster too, as well as making them veterans. May prove fun, if I can spare the points. Well, last night I just finished the 5th of them. They’re built mostly stock, some spiky bits trimmed, one has his chainsword replaced, two more got death company hands together with their pistols.
Enough rambling though, here they are:
Update: Thanks to a friend, the squad now has a name, too – Squad Moloch.
Soon(tm) – right after I get my hands on two more plasma pistols, I will be adding a couple of posts with all my terminators. Gotta say, I’m really proud of how these guys are turning up 😀
Now, iif only I could decide what spiky warband to make… Alpha Legion is a prime contender, they’ve been close to my heart since I started the hobby. The Scourged are pretty awesome too. And there’s always the option of making my own twisted version… We shall see.
Edit: All the terminators have been completed, and I’ve posted new pics of all of them in this post.
So I’ve decided I should take pics more often, to show whatever models I’m working on – today, 3 chaos terminators. I apologize in advance for the crappy light balance and focus, I was in a sort of rush snapping these.
First one is the Lord. Armed to look like a certain big character that defined the history of the 40k universe, I’ll use in in game as lightning-claw and chainfist combo, simply because it’s one of the few gear options that makes the Lord decent in a fight. Alternatively, if I ever want to switch from Lord to Sorcerer HQ, this guy will suddenly become the Terminator unit champion, armed in the same fashion.
Next up is a model I initially built with two lightning claws, as a “second champion”. Unfortunately the new codex came out, and in some ways it managed to be even more retarded than the 4ed bullshit, so the idea had to be scrapped. Couldn’t manage to break off the second claw, so I added the combi-plasma and this will be the “chainfist & combi-plasma” champion when the Lord leads the squad.
And last but not least, the first of my two reaper autocannon carrying ceramite monsters. Sporting a lovely mace, joyfully donated by my Warriors of Chaos bits box. And yes, that black thing is there to stop him from tipping over. I’m still waiting for these guys’ bases to arrive…
That’s it for now. In a couple of days or so I hope to post a pic of the second reaper autocannon and another one with combi-melta and power axe, work permitting.
